ING Partners with Bloomberg to Launch New Emerging Markets USD-FX Indices on Bloomberg
February 19, 2024
ING has launched a series of emerging market currency indices that can be traded through the Bloomberg terminal. The new index family will include a basket of 12 emerging market currencies equally weighted against the U.S. dollar.
The launch of the product comes at a time of growing global demand for emerging market (EM) trading, which has grown steadily since 2017. While many emerging market stock indexes were considered laggards last year, they reversed course in 2017, with many exchanges and currencies hitting recent highs.
The four indices, based on Bloomberg's FX pricing data feed (BFix), are designed to track the performance of a whole 12 emerging market currencies against the U.S. dollar on an equally weighted basis. Two sets of indexes are available. The first set is the long-only version, while the second set is the long-short version with the option to hedge the risk of volatility.
